10 pains of a Nigerian Bachelor

Being a bachelor in our society can sometimes come with certain pains and deprivations! . Well, it is all good sha! Some things are better to be experienced than for you to be told  If you still think only ladies share from it, you are on a long thing!

1) When you go to the market to buy foodstuffs, the traders notice you easily as a bachelor and some would want to use that as an opportunity to make abnormal profits off you, especially, when you don’t have a regular customer you buy from! If na for me, market fall press them because I sabi price well well o! I fit price your 500Naira fish for 150Naira!!! . Na joke I dey o!

2) You close from work after a hard day’s job, feeling tired and weak but you still have to prepare what to eat…unless you want to settle for junk foods such as Akara and bread or bread and fanta (Truckman’s sandwich)

3) You open your facebook page and it seems everyone you knew out there back in school is getting married! You just feel like uploading your marriage pics too!

4) You are having a swell time in the office and a n*ughty colleague of yours throws in a joke of you being a ‘Manchelor’ without realizing the mental effect of it. What do you do?  You laugh it off…apply humour!

5) Family people are sharing things and they give you a small portion…before you make an attempt to complain, someone stands up to remind you that you are not married yet, that those that got bigger portions are family men.

6) You hardly tell your landlord that you don’t have money for utility bills yet; he is bound to ask you: ‘You dor marry?’ ‘Do you have kids you feed?’ ‘Wetin you dey use money dey do?’ See me see problem o! So I don’t have personal expenses because I am not married?

7) They inaugurate a committee in your company and they give the key roles to the married folks who are less competent than you! Why? The management think they are more responsible  Error!!!

8. When you are very free and open, neighbours, especially, the female ones, take advantage. They enter your crib at random, open your freezer and help themselves with beverages and foods! Who go challenge dem?

9) Sometimes when you do business with married folks, they want to take advantage of it as they feel they need more money than you since they have mouths to feed. Ogbeni, stop it! Na me give your wife belle to born children?

10) Friends keep pointing out girls they know that can make good wives. When some see you chilling with a babe, they secretly tell you, ‘Dis one fit you o! Marry am na’!!! Without even knowing who she is. So e mean say me no get eyes and mind of my own again?

Sea tensions surge as China lands plane on artificial island

China's first landing of a plane on one of its new island runways in the South China Sea shows Beijing's facilities in the disputed region are being completed on schedule and military flights will inevitably follow, foreign officials and analysts said.

China's increasing military presence in the disputed sea could effectively lead to a Beijing-controlled air defence zone, they said, ratcheting up tensions with other claimants and with the United States in one of the world's most volatile areas.
Chinese foreign ministry officials confirmed on Saturday that a test flight by a civilian plane landed on an artificial island built in the Spratlys, the first time Beijing has used a runway in the area.
Vietnam launched a formal diplomatic protest while Philippines Foreign Ministry spokesman Charles Jose said Manila was planning to do the same. Both have claims to the area that overlap with China.
"That's the fear, that China will be able take control of the South China Sea and it will affect the freedom of navigation and freedom of overflight," Jose told reporters.
In Washington, State Department spokesman John Kirby said China's landing of the plane "raises tensions and threatens regional stability."
Senator John McCain, the chairman of the influential U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, criticised the Obama administration for delaying further "freedom of navigation" patrols within 12 nautical miles of the islands built by China.
China has been building runways on the artificial islands for over a year, and the plane's landing was not a surprise.
The runway at the Fiery Cross Reef is 3,000 metres (10,000 feet) long and is one of three China was constructing on artificial islands built up from seven reefs and atolls in the Spratlys archipelago.
The runways would be long enough to handle long-range bombers and transport craft as well as China's best jet fighters, giving them a presence deep into the maritime heart of Southeast Asia that they have lacked until now.
Chinese officials have repeatedly stressed that the new islands would be mostly for civilian use, such as coast guard activity and fishing research.
Foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at the weekend that the test flight was intended to check whether the runway met civilian aviation standards and fell "completely within China's sovereignty".
However, military landings on the islands were now "inevitable", said Leszek Buszynski, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University's Strategic and Defence Studies Centre.
An air defence zone, while unlikely soon, was feasible and possible in future once China's built up its air strength, he said.
"The next step will be, once they've tested it with several flights, they will bring down some of their fighter air power - SU-27s and SU-33's - and they will station them there permanently. That's what they're likely to do."

Mum gives birth to son in hospital car park

Little Kai Taafe made his grand entrance in the back of a Volkswagen Golf outside a hospital in Ireland. His mum - 26-year-old Elaine - gave birth to the 7lb baby as maternity staff raced toward the make shift deliver room last Wednesday morning, reports the Irish Mirror .

Elaine’s father Harry, who is from O’Hanlon Park in the town said: “Elaine lives around the corner and came over to us in pain after 6am.

Elaine Taaffe with her Dad Harry who helped her
“She told my wife Maria her labour pains were coming quickly so I jumped out of bed and put Elaine in the car, put the hazard lights on and drove in the wind and rain to Drogheda at 6.30am.
“Just outside Monasterboice, I saw an ambulance in front and flashed my lights at it but it was probably carrying another passenger and didn’t know what was going on.
“I overtook it and then felt more comfortable knowing there was an ambulance crew behind me, if need be. “I didn’t even wait for the man at the hospital gates to put up the barrier, I just drove around it and parked up.
"The baby’s head was just out at the time so I just ran in to get help.
“Elaine had three massive labour pains on the way up in the car and on the fourth, she gave birth just as the medical staff arrived at 6.55am. “Elaine was giving birth in the car with the two doors wide open and the wind howling and the rain lashing around us.
“People were asking was she going to call the baby Frank on account of him being born in the middle of it.
“I have to commend the staff because as soon as they knew what was happening, they were straight out and knew exactly what to do.”
Ironically, it’s not the first quick delivery Harry has experienced.
He added:
“My daughter Orla nearly gave birth in the lift at the hospital last year and 21 years ago, my son Shane was born quickly.
"We left home at 6.20am and just made it to the Louth County Hospital where he was born just 20 minutes later.”
Elaine and Kai are back home in Dundalk now where Kai’s big brother Reece, four, is proving a huge help to his mum.
